Mariam is an Egyptian-American writer and journalist. Since graduating from USC, she has worked with social impact organizations through The Goldhirsh Foundation and freelanced for arts and culture publications.

Her work has appeared in GQ, Rolling Stone, Flaunt Magazine, Atwood Magazine, and more.

She is a Norman Topping scholar, Edith Bruce Boas scholarship awardee, and an ADC Dr. Jack G. Shaheen scholarship recipient. Mariam is currently working towards a Master of Science in Journalism at Northwestern’s Medill School of Journalism, where she plans to focus on stories that examine the cultural zeitgeist of film and music, and aims to highlight Middle Eastern, BIPOC, and Indigenous communities.
